These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to your use of Spotlight by CeFEO at spotlight.cefeo.se, including its search portal (Navigator) and its AI assistant (Spotty) (together, the “Website”). The Website is operated by the Centre for Family Entrepreneurship and Ownership (CeFEO) at Jönköping International Business School, Internationella Handelshögskolan i Jönköping AB, company registration number 556487-2728, VAT number SE556487272801, Box 1026, 551 11 Jönköping, Sweden, telephone +46 36 10 10 00 (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By using the Website you accept these Terms. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy and Accessibility Statement.

About Spotlight

Spotlight (ISSN 3119-365X) is a free practitioner journal that summarises peer-reviewed research on family business for owners, leaders, advisors and policymakers. You can read it without an account, and we charge no fees.

Research summaries are not advice

Each Spotlight article summarises a study published elsewhere and links to it. A summary selects, simplifies and interprets. For the full methods, findings and limitations, read the original study.

Spotlight content is general information for learning. It is not legal, financial, tax, investment or other professional advice, and it does not take your circumstances into account. Seek qualified advice before you act on it.

Spotty, the AI research assistant

Spotty is an AI system. Its answers are generated automatically by a language model from Spotlight’s research summaries, and they can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, even when they cite an article. Check important points against the Spotlight article and the original study.

Do not enter personal, confidential or sensitive information into Spotty. Our Privacy Policy explains how conversations are handled. We may limit or suspend Spotty at any time, for example to prevent misuse.

Using the Website

You are welcome to read, search, share links to, cite and quote Spotlight. You agree not to:

• republish, sell or redistribute Spotlight articles, or substantial parts of them, without our written permission
• present Spotlight content as your own, or remove the attribution to Spotlight and to the authors of the original studies
• impersonate CeFEO, Jönköping International Business School or their staff, or misrepresent your connection with us
• access the Website by automated means in a way that ignores robots.txt or overloads it (search engines and other well-behaved crawlers are welcome)
• use Spotty to produce spam or harmful content, try to make it disregard its instructions, or send it automated or bulk requests
• try to gain unauthorised access to the Website, its servers or its databases, or interfere with how it works, for example with malware or denial-of-service attacks
• use the Website in breach of applicable law

Copyright and citation

Spotlight’s text, design and illustrations are © Centre for Family Entrepreneurship and Ownership (CeFEO), Jönköping International Business School, unless stated otherwise. The studies Spotlight summarises remain the work of their authors and publishers, and journal names and covers belong to their owners.

You may quote Spotlight within the limits of the right of quotation in the Swedish Copyright Act (1960:729), with attribution. Please cite an article with its title, “Spotlight by CeFEO”, the year and its DOI, which begins 10.68623/spotlight. For any other use, contact us.

Reporting an infringement

If you believe content on the Website infringes your copyright or other rights, email infocefeo@ju.se with your contact details, the work concerned, the address of the page, and why you believe it infringes your rights. We will review the notice promptly and remove or correct content where appropriate.

Availability and accuracy

We aim to keep the Website accurate and available, but we cannot guarantee either. Summaries may contain errors, and we may change, interrupt or withdraw the Website or parts of it without notice. If you find an error, please tell us at infocefeo@ju.se so we can correct it.

Links to other websites

Links to original studies at publishers and DOI services, and to other websites, are there for reference. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content or practices.

Liability

The Website is provided free of charge and as it is. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Website, its content or Spotty’s answers, including indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights under mandatory consumer law.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Swedish law. Disputes are settled by the Swedish courts, with Jönköping District Court (Jönköpings tingsrätt) as the court of first instance, unless mandatory law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere. If a court finds any part of these Terms invalid, the rest remains in force.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The current version is always published on this page with its date. If you continue to use the Website after a change, the updated Terms apply.
